Students who have completed their 12th class with biology, physics and chemistry as the main subjects are eligible for the course. The main subjects of this course are nutrition and dietetics, community health nursing, medical and surgical nursing, pediatric nursing, and obstetrical nursing.

After completing the GNM course in Delhi, students become eligible for various job profiles such as staff nurse, health care worker, school nurse, forensic nurse, industrial nurse, ward nurse, home nurse, etc. They become eligible to work in both government and private hospitals. Other sectors for which they become eligible are dispensaries, old age homes, nursing homes and community health centers. The qualified nurses can earn get good salary package ranging between Rs 10,000/- to Rs. 30,000/-.
